Biography

Fusing country and rock, Chris Lane is a rising star on the Nashville music scene, where his strong voice and good looks have made him a name to watch. Lane was born in Kernersville, North Carolina on November 9, 1984, and his two passions growing up were baseball and music. Lane loved country music, and drew inspiration from Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, and Alan Jackson, though he also had a taste for pop and R&B, and listened to the likes of Usher, the Backstreet Boys, and Justin Timberlake. While Lane sang for fun in high school, he was focused on the possibility of a career in sports, and played baseball in college. However, shortly before Lane graduated, he saw a Keith Urban concert that convinced him he should give performing a try. Lane taught himself to play guitar and began performing at local clubs, and after developing a regional following he pulled up stakes and headed for Nashville. Lane began performing with his own group, the Chris Lane Band, and the group released its debut album, Let's Ride; distributed by Loradale Drive Records, the album rose to number 75 on the Country Albums chart. June 2014 brought the single "Broken Windshield View," which was Lane's first release for Big Loud Mountain Records, an independent label that had worked with Florida Georgia Line and Dallas Smith. The single rose to number 45 on the Country Singles chart, and Lane found himself sharing stages with his labelmates Florida Georgia Line as well as the Band Perry, Lee Brice, Eli Young, Nelly, and many more. In November 2015 Lane dropped a six-song EP, Fix, that gave him a chance to show off his talents as an R&B-influenced singer as well as his country side. ~ Mark Deming
