Our Review

Culled from tapes of a sold-out three night stand at New York City’s Madison Square Garden in July 1973, The Song Remains the Same captures Led Zeppelin at a turning point in their career. Their stardom assured, their legend growing, the four members were accepting their roles as rock gods and indulging themselves and their fans with whatever tickled their fancy. Every major (and minor) band in the 1970s made a live album. So, “Dazed and Confused” transforms into a half-hour odyssey. “Stairway to Heaven” takes on the significance of a national anthem, and with the improved amplification of the 1970s, the band’s sound expands to grandiose proportions. It doesn’t seem possible that three instrumentalists and a singer could command this much power. But listen to the intricate bluesy weave of “Since I’ve Been Loving You,” one of six highlights added to the 2007 expanded edition of this now classic double-live album originally issued in 1976, and you’ll hear the largest sounding power trio in the music business. The band is slightly ragged throughout. Personal and musical excesses will do that. However, with a catalog this strong, Led Zeppelin moved into prime position to become among the decade’s most important musical voices.

Finally....As it should be. (5 stars)
Finally, with missing songs added, awsome sound....This has been worth the wait. Not being a hardcore Zep fan back in the day, I'm learing to love them 30 years later. If you have to own just one or two cd's of theirs, this is a good one. Live, loud & long (Dazed & Confused clocks in at 1/2 hour!). Still, for those of us who were in our teens back then, this is kind of like looking through your highschool yearbook. Conversely,

I can't believe that nobody has pointed this out yet... (5 stars)
Most of the performances on this new edition are different (came from a different night than those on the original version --There were 3 nights at Madison Square Garden). So, hold on to you old copy if you loved the original album note-for-note. For those fans that only purchased the 6 unreleased songs here on iTunes, you are missing out on something here. For example: Ever notice that the version of "No Quarter" on the movie is

It's Worth It!!! A+++++++ (5 stars)
I have had the analog copy since day one. I compared it with the remastered over and over again it does sound better. By the way if you have not picked up the DVD, DO IT. Awesome audio and video quality. I have compared the studio tracks to ones I have. I can tell a slight difference, especially with the older stuff. The early stuff I can tell a small difference, can't decide if it's worth it yet. But the live recordings are a good bu

Led Zeppelin was the definitive heavy metal band. It wasn't just their crushingly loud interpretation of the blues — it was how they incorporated mythology, mysticism, and a variety of other genres (most notably world music and British folk) — into their sound. Led Zeppelin had mystique. They rarely gave interviews, since the music press detested the band. Consequently, the only connection the audience had with the band was through the records and the concerts. More than any other band,...
