the early days (5 stars)
ok so i dont know about the album review up top. The reviewer trys to state "Chin" as a person. Well if they had done a little more research they would have found that before the Switchfoot the band, formed by jon foreman along with his brother Tim and drummer chad butler, was called Chin Up before the name change. 5 Star (5 stars)
I own all the Switchfoot albums and have listened to them many a time. I consider this album to be no less good at all and enjoy it just as much as any of the other albums. It's really a great album with amazing lyrics and a different sound. A great buy to anyone who likes Switchfoot!

The reviewer is overanalyzing this album. This remains one of my favorite albums of the CCM genre, b/c of its distinctive sound and catchy lyrics. It was produced in 1996-1997, so labeling this as 'depressing' is completely hollow, if not framed in the context of rock during that period. This album is solid. It's Switchfoot before the hype and overproduction. I still love their albums, but this is the album that started it all.
