Could you explain what you mean by saying Clapton isn't a blues musician? B.B. King has said Clapton can play the blues better than anybody he knows. If Clapton isn't considered a blues musician, I don't know what the defination of a "blues musician" is.

I don't know what you've been sniffing but Clapton say's in his autobiography That he is a blues guitarist now, and has been ever since his Dad bought him his first $ 0.10 Store guitar.

By the time Eric Clapton launched his solo career with the release of his self-titled debut album in mid-1970, he was long established as one of the world's major rock stars due to his group affiliations — the Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream, and Blind Faith — which had demonstrated his claim to being the best rock guitarist of his generation.
