Tha Doggfather (Remastered) – Snoop DoggView More By Snoop Dogg Our ReviewOne of the world's most popular artists, Snoop Dogg transcended mere "rapper" status and evolved into an accomplished actor, entrepreneur, and all-around entertainer. After his star-making turn on The Chronic and the explosive success of Doggystyle (not to mention beating a murder charge), Snoop seemed absolutely untouchable. But behind the scenes, trouble lurked. When Tha Doggfather was released, Death Row was already crumbling; Dr. Dre had left the label over money disputes, Suge Knight was indicted for racketeering, and Tupac had just been shot to death in Las Vegas. Both in terms of lyrics and production, this album is not as good Snoop's earlier work, as often happens with artists who drop universally praised debuts. That being said, it's still pretty dope, albeit with slightly less memorable beats, this time from West Coast vets Daz Dillinger and DJ Pooh. "Groupie" recalls the DPG vibe of "Ain't No Fun (If The Homies Can't Have None)," "Vapors" is a Cali-fied take of Biz Markie's classic jam, and the Wild West-themed "Gold Rush" is a forgotten gem. The years have been kind to it; in retrospect Tha Doggfather deserves more applause.. Customer ReviewsAnother Classic(4.5 mics) (5 stars)Having being made one of the most popular rappers at the time Snoop has proven once again to not and possibly never dissapoint his fans with his debet" The Doggfather". This Album Is Not As Good As Doggy Style But Is Still Good good decent album, but production still needs work....... (4 stars) overall, this is a good album, but I think it got overshadowed because of all the stuff that was happening with death row at the time, but overall it is good. You can tell that this was a career lenthing album and it has some really good hits like "tha doggfather" "groupie" and "snoops upside your head" but some of the production on some of the songs you can tell is off. So overall for the album and the circumst BiographyBorn: October 20, 1972 in Long Beach, CAGenre: Hip Hop/Rap Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s As the embodiment of '90s gangsta rap, Snoop Dogg blurred the lines between reality and fiction. Introduced to the world through Dr. Dre's The Chronic, Snoop quickly became the most famous star in rap, partially because of his drawled, laconic rhyming and partially because the violence that his lyrics implied seemed real, especially after he was arrested on charges of being a murder accomplice. The arrest certainly strengthened his myth, and it helped his debut album, 1993's Doggystyle, become the...
