Stardust – Willie NelsonView More By Willie Nelson Our ReviewNowadays every Rod, Josh and Carly can make (or revive) a career out of re-interpreting old standards. But Willie Nelson was ahead of the pack when he released Stardust in 1978. Known primarily as a singer-songwriter, and part of the country "outlaw" contingent of artists who had turned their backs on Nashville for the wide open sounds and spaces of Austin, Texas, Nelson's take on the Great American Songbook was an out-of-left-field revelation. Many of the tunes recorded here have become staples in Nelson's live show, including "Georgia On My Mind," and "AllOf Me." But Nelson's just-ahead-of-the-beat delivery put a new slant on other standards such as "Stardust," "Blue Skies," and the ethereal "Someone To Watch Over Me." With a soft, understated production by Booker T., Willie showcases himself and these songs to full advantage.. Customer ReviewsWillie Nelson Shines With Stardust (5 stars)On this classic album, Willie Nelson proves once again why he is considered an American Icon. The way Willie superbly wraps his voice around these all time classic songs is purely sublime. There is very good reason why this album remained on the charts for over a decade. A can't miss selection!!!!! Ultimate Mellow Album (5 stars) Even if you are not a Willie Nelson fan (which I really am not), give this one a listen. His voice turns these old tunes into something you just want to swim in. Perfect for sitting in front of the fire or out on the patio sipping wine. This is a classic! Someone to Watch Over Me, Stardust and Georgia On My Mind are timeless. All in all, this album is magic. Willie on my mind (5 stars) One of my all time favorites. I remember when the folks brought this one home in the 10th year of my existence. Couldn't get enough then or now. Each song carresses the next, creating a cohesive listening pleasure.
