Split: Kings of Leon & Black Rebel Motorcyle Club – EP – Kings of LeonView More By Kings of Leon Our ReviewIt used to be quite common for bands to sell split EPs at the merchandise booth while touring with each other. Keeping with this tradition, Kings of Leon and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club each contributed two fan-favorite songs that make for a killer four-song EP that celebrates the bands’ 2007 tour. Pulled from Because of the Times, “Fans” is one of the few songs that hints at the Kings of Leon’s twangy Americana beginnings before the band filtered the music of their Southern pastoral upbringing through a post-punk filter. Similarly, B-side “Woo Hoo” lets loose some Chuck Berry inspired boogie-rock riffage before breaking down into herky-jerky rhythms. BRMC deliver the radio version of “Berlin” from Baby 81 which plays like an upgrade on the Brian Jonestown Massacre’s early-‘90s anglophile period where words like “revolution” and “suicide” were tossed around freely. They end the EP with “The Show’s About to Begin” a sinister dirge from the band’s Weapon of Choice single.. Customer ReviewsBRMC ROCKS!!! (5 stars)I have been one of the lucky ones that have had a chance to see BRMC play live these guys are the real thing they are a great band to see live and they always take the time to talk to there fans thanks guys for such great music BRMC Never Fails! Kings of Leon on well they do sometimes. (3 stars) Berlin is raw and brilliant. The shows about to begin, I mean how many B side songs do these guys have and they shouldn't even be B-sides I mean next time BRMC should come out with a double 2x LP. Kings of Leon well if you like fine but I do not. BUY "The Shows About to Begin"!!!!! yeah... (4 stars) I saw these two together as well... simply amazing. And I thought BRMC was impressive live, truly impressive. BiographyFormed: 1998 in San Francisco, CAGenre: Rock Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s The seed that became Black Rebel Motorcycle Club — or B.R.M.C. for short — was planted in 1995, when Robert Turner (aka Robert Levon Been) and Peter Hayes met while attending high school in San Francisco. The two formed a solid friendship and camaraderie based on a mutual love of early-'90s U.K. bands like Ride, the Stone Roses, the Jesus and Mary Chain, and My Bloody Valentine. Despite such similar tastes, both joined different bands and spent several years working apart, although they...
