Changing the game (5 stars)
Eric Church keeps pushing country music outside of the hip hop and pop genres that radio keeps taking it. This is his least commercial, but most artistic project yet. Speaks volumes about his ability to capture an audience but still stay true to himself.
I'd compare it to Bruce Springsteen's 'Nebraska' album. Right at the peak of his career he goes all artistic and knocks it out of the park. Unbelievable purchase.

One word...original (4 stars)
Eric Church continues to break ground on bringing country music back to its roots. Just an original singer/songwriter doing things his own way, which in my opinion is the better way. No funky rap back beat with the same ol regurgitated lyrics about pickup trucks and dirt roads, which isn't a bad thing, just played out. Country radio should pay a little more attention to genuine country artists such as Eric Church and leave the pop/hip hop

Best Album Since “Chief" (5 stars)
I wasn’t a big fan of The Outsiders. It was too generic, and standard country. This is the Eric Church I listened to when I was back in High School. Great Record, Welcome back Eric.

Country singer/songwriter/guitarist Eric Church grew up in Granite Falls, North Carolina, and began singing as a child. At 13, he started writing songs, later teaching himself to play guitar. While attending college at Appalachian State, he formed a band, the Mountain Boys, that played around western North Carolina.
