Johnny Cash: 16 Biggest Hits – Johnny CashView More By Johnny Cash Our ReviewA musical genre unto himself, Johnny Cash walked a line few others could hope to follow. He was a relevant and vital figure for over a half-century, counting everyone from Waylon Jennings to Bono as creative partners yet always remaining his own man. His integrity and courage as an artist is amply displayed on this collection. 16 Biggest Hits gives us Cash the tormented lover (“Ring Of Fire”), the penitent sinner (“Folsom Prison Blues”), the folk balladeer (“Ghost Riders In The Sky”) and comedic storyteller (“A Boy Named Sue,””One Piece At A Time”). The authority he brings to his material is impressive — yet it’s the vulnerability revealed in his deep, grave tones that truly grips the heart. From early hits like “I Walk The Line” through later tracks like “The Man In Black,” Cash grapples with his conscience and faces up to his demons without flinching. These songs are more than a batch of high-charting singles — they document a restless artist unafraid to bear his scars. 16 Greatest Hits is a treasury of some of Johnny’s most enduring and authoritative work.. Customer ReviewsGreat Album (5 stars)This is a great album for both newcomers to Johnny's music, as well as life-long fans. Just as the title suggests, these are the biggest hits of his great and very long-lived career. Even if you don't recognize the name of the song, I bet you've heard it before. My favorite song is "Daddy Sang Bass" and I have no idea why. Good album! He created his own subgenre, falling halfway between the blunt emotional honesty of folk, the rebelliousness of rock & roll, and the world-weariness of country. Cash's career coincided with the birth of rock &...
