In addition to a seven-minute version of the song, the album offered several minutes of a looped remix of Clyde Stubblefield’s implacable beat with nothing but Brown’s exclamations atop it. Pulling together long edits of 1969-1971 funk classics, including many with the classic lineup featuring Collins brothers Bootsy and Catfish, Jungle Groove is a terrific set that catches the music at a time when it was developing almost every time the band played, setting a standard that remains unmet anywhere else. In addition to well-known rockers like “Funky Drummer,” the Sex Machine remake of “Give It Up or Turn It a Loose” (which appeared here without dubbed applause for the first time) and “Soul Power,” there’s also a version of the 1970 “I Got to Move” that’s heard on no other disc.. This was my real intro into James brown, after which came the payback and Hell. Every track is killer. Bootsy plays on entire album. James was never funkier and never more focussed than in these 10 tracks. Enjoy. Only one listen... (5 stars) That's what it took for me to realize this is the greatest album ever. non-stop funk and the deepest grooves ever by one of the tightest bands to be ever assenbled. there not much james singing on this album, there a whole lot of james conducting, but i dunno which is better anymore. Let's not forget that the album contains the single greatest drum beat in music history. yes, greater than paradise city. as my one friend said, he could &q all time best (5 stars) This has GOT to be his all time grittiest, heaviest, slamdunking JB funk album. He laid down some serious groove with this one. This was actually my first album that I bought, was suggested to me by a store owner in 1991. All his other albums are ELEVATOR MUSIC compared to these tracks. They certainly help get the female groove goin, you're bound to get laid if you play this album in front of women.
