Forget the "Album Review" above. Drop the analytical mindset, and listen. "Emotive singing" . . . , my ***. Emotion and good music are inextricably intertwined. This is great music. The best. As are Stevens' two prior albums ("Teaser and the Firecat" and "Catch Bull at Four"). Stevens was in perfect stride and harmony during these years. Music Misunderstood (5 stars)
I remember the release of this album, and the bad reviews. I felt from the very first hearing that the "Foreigner Suite" was a masterpiece. Personally, I think this is the best music Cat ever wrote - it is certainly the most though-provoking. It is, in my opinion, the "symphony of his mind."

This Album was so ahead of its time ... Artists were looking at Cats work to see where they should be going and this Foreigner Suite was ahead of its time along the lines and way before Bohemian Rhapsody .. .. His lyrics are so epiphanic and the arrangements in this song Foreigner Suite is mytical Heartfelt magic carpet ride filled with such a ride that you will be playing it over and over ... this is ultimately my fave album and that is

Cat Stevens, born Steven Demetre Georgiou, was the son of a Swedish mother and a Greek father who ran a restaurant in London. He became interested in folk music and rock & roll in his teens while attending Hammersmith College and in 1965 began performing under the name Steve Adams. Mike Hurst, a former member of the folk-pop group the Springfields, who had become a record producer, heard him and took him into a recording studio to cut his composition "I Love My Dog."
