Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood – DMXView More By DMX Our Review“To live is to suffer,” DMX resignedly says at the beginning of “Slippin’,” which appears just past the midpoint of 1998's Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood. Though the album sticks to gangsta wisdom throughout, it finds the rapper’s moods varying enough to almost qualify it as a series of EPs collected under one title. DMX is equally convincing on the reflective “Slippin’,” which looks back on a convict’s choices, and “Coming From,” which matches his boasts with Mary J. Blige’s thoughtful choruses, as on the celebratory “It’s All Good” and “Keep Your S*** the Hardest.” DMX’s growling voice occasionally suggests a blues singer’s expression, while relatively minimal beats such as “No Love 4 Me” keep the record booming. Both complex and brutal, Flesh of My Flesh is hard to turn away from.. Customer ReviewsRealist rapper alive (5 stars)U know why u never see X showin' off his gold chains and doin' raps on beaches with airhead bikini models? Because the man is SICK - and that's both a good and a bad thing. Real listeners of rap know what I mean. 5 stars - nuff said. the best rapper that ever lived!!! (5 stars) I can't believe people giving this album anything less than 5 stars, this is the hardest hardcore rap from the ralist rapper ever. No Sophomore Jinx Here! I see someone gave it a 3 star review because it was "scary". X is REAL and speaks/writes FROM HIS HEART. He's not commercial like most everyone else even though I like those rappers too. That's why I love X and why you should respect him as an artist more th BiographyBorn: December 18, 1970 in Baltimore, MDGenre: Hip Hop/Rap Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s Following the deaths of Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G., DMX took over as the reigning, undisputed king of hardcore rap. He was that rare commodity: a commercial powerhouse with artistic and street credibility to spare. His rapid ascent to stardom was actually almost a decade in the making, which gave him a chance to develop the theatrical image that made him one of rap's most distinctive personalities during his heyday. Everything about DMX was unremittingly intense, from his muscular, tattooed...
