Excited (4 stars)
Couldn't get into his last album (I'm not religious), and I know that even his debut and many Thrice songs had underlying Christian messages and references; but was able to move past it. I felt his most recent release was too "preachy" (for my taste and beliefs, anyway). Have to give the guy respect and applause for what he does- great musician , singer, and writer; composing songs and lyrics which encompass his spiritual values-

Intelligent lyrics with a voice full of emotion (5 stars)
I have loved your music since Mars Hill. The Water & The Blood was a fav - so raw and emotive, the lyrics beautifully written. This new stuff sounds amazing! I'm loving Of Crows & Crowns. Your voice is aching and powerful and the lyrics are refreshing. So excited to hear the rest!

Since the formation of Thrice in 1998, Dustin Kensrue was most notably known as the lead singer, lyricist, and guitarist for the well-regarded Irvine, California post-hardcore quartet. And while Thrice always remained his top priority, he began more seriously working on solo acoustic material around 2004. Originally writing under the project name Ursus Veritas, Kensrue eventually dropped the moniker, choosing instead to work under his own name.
