Our Review

Sometimes sounding like an American Arctic Monkeys (by way of Kentucky) or a more heartland-rooted Beck, Cage the Elephant make soulful, sweaty and unrestrained music, inspired by everything from Iggy and the Stooges to American blues. Brothers Matt (vocals) and Brad (guitar) Schultz lead the quintet of Southern rockers down the same path as Kings of Leon, crossing into alt-rock territory that fills large venues and thrills with incendiary live shows. Tracks like “James Brown,” “Drones In the Valley,” and “Tiny Little Robots” run on the same garage fumes that fuel the Hives and International Noise Conspiracy, while  “Back Stabbin’ Betty” sounds like an X-rated outtake from the Stones’ Exile on Main Street. “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked” is all slide guitars and testosterone-driven storytelling, while the swaggering and strutting “In One Ear” and “Back Against the Wall” should be radio staples. These hard-partying Southern rockers seem to have greased guitars and grinding rhythms in their blood, and their debut impresses by any measure.

Finally a rock album without some oversinging kareokee singer. Great vocals, unique beats, and some dirty guitar (in a good way). If you are tired of what punk/rock music is right now, get this album.

Get the whole album. it is revolutionary and will blow your mind. In One Ear- best song on the album, 5 stars James Brown- catchy tune, 4.5 stars Ain't no rest for the wicked- amazing song and great meaning, 5 stars Tiny little robots- great overall, 4 stars Lotus- softer, but still great, 4 stars Back against the wall- amazing great lyrics, 5 stars drones in the valley- probably the worst song on the album, 3 stars judas- cool guitar, 4 st

Complete Review for a Completely Great Album (5 stars)
I can't believe no one has written a real review for this album yet! It really is a great album; fresh and catchy, just in time for Spring/Summer. This is a blues based, garage rock band with the occasional production trick. The clear standout song is Ain't No Rest; it encompasses all of what they try to do and it does it the best. It sounds like what you would imagine The White Stripes and Beck might sound like...if they hadn't already mad

Although chart success in England was an unlikely first step to fame for a band from Bowling Green, Kentucky, mainstream rock band Cage the Elephant achieved just that. Formed by Matt Shultz, Brad Shultz, Jared Champion, Lincoln Parish, and Daniel Tichenor, the group earned a contract with the Relentless label and released the "Free Love" single late in 2007.
