ABC – Jackson 5View More By Jackson 5 Our ReviewThe second Jackson 5 album was worth all the pennies, nickels, and dimes that were no doubt assiduously saved toward its purchase. Immediately Motown's hottest group, the Jackson Five helped bring the company into the '70s with a Sly-influenced meld of funk, rock and classic soul. Check their streamlined version of Funkadelic's "I'll Bet You," for instance. And have there been many matches of group and material as these kids and "The Love You Save"? (Their early ballad gift wasn't squandered here, either, as "I Found That Girl" proves.) The Motown assembly line smartly retooled itself for the new-thang voice of the quintet, making even in-house covers such as "Come 'Round Here (I'm the One You Need)" feel as natural as Sugar Pops in the morning.. Customer ReviewsThis was and is an excellent Album!!!! (5 stars)I still get goose bumps when I hear the songs on here. All of them were gems. When you think about the fact that they actually SANG on the album. There was no auto tune or a million tracks to comp together to make one good vocal take. There are not many artist today who can sing that well. Any comments about the song selection is purely a matter of taste. Regarding talent there is no argument. This album is excellent!!!!! Silly People -- The Jackson 5 are amazing! (5 stars) "The Love You Save" is a beast song! "ABC" is okay, too, but I've listened to it too many times for it to be my obsession anymore. Jackson 5 are classic, so I am not understanding all the hate for them. But, hey, this CD is great. If you want to buy individual tracks and not the whole album I reccomend 1 and 3. Good oldies :) Oldie Jackson Fan (4 stars) You would need to be an old fan of the Jackson 5 to appreciate this album. #'s 1,2,3,9,11, are my favorite, But, then I remember when they first came out. BiographyFormed: 1966 in Gary, INGenre: R&B/Soul Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s The Jackson 5 were one of the biggest phenomenons in pop music during the early '70s, and the last great group to come out of the Motown hitmaking machine before Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder shifted the label's focus to more individual visions. The Jackson 5's infectious brand of funky pop-soul was a definite departure from the typically smooth, elegant Motown sound, as befitting the group's youth and the dawn of a new decade. That youth, coupled with the merchandising juggernaut that sprang up...
