Weird Al Yankovic – "Weird Al" YankovicView More By "Weird Al" Yankovic Our ReviewIt’s difficult to listen to an original song the same way again after having laughed out loud at Weird Al Yankovic’s parody. Although his 1983 eponymous debut album hit a chord with fans of Dr. Demento’s radio show and sixth grade boys everywhere, Yankovic wouldn't fully realize this craft until his 1984 sophomore long-player, In 3-D. A good example of his growth can be found in comparing opening cut “Rickey” which parodies I Love Lucy to the tune of Toni Basil’s “Mickey” — it’s funny enough, but this formula was better perfected a year later when Yankovic lampooned The Brady Bunch by filtering it through Men Without Hats’ “Safety Dance,” not only making fun of the TV show and the band, but also sitcoms in general as well as the posed pomposity of most new-wave bands. In other moments here, Yankovic aims down and hits high — the microphoned armpit flatulence on “I Love Rocky Road” and the lowbrow Mad magazine tone of his first hit “Another One Rides The Bus” just wouldn't work without a shamelessly immature sense of humor.. Customer ReviewsAnother one rides the bus! (4 stars)boom-boom-boom Another one rides the bus boom-boom-boom (and so on), I haven't heard that song FOREVER!!!!! Its good that Weird Al's back! Al's very first album EVER!! (5 stars) This, my friends, was Weird Al Yankovic's very first album, made in 1983, totally done by accordian. Yep, this album is 100% accordian. He sounds so young, and if you put this disc in, then straight outta lynwood right after it, OH MAN do they sound sooo differant!! You can barely tell it's the same person! But, I would definatly wait until you are a hardcore fan of Al's to get this. So maybe you could be more forgiving. Don't get me wrong, Don't remember this but it's funny (5 stars) I don't quite remember these but its really funny and pretty clean BiographyBorn: October 23, 1959 in Lynwood, CAGenre: Comedy Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s The foremost song parodist of the MTV era, "Weird Al" Yankovic carried the torch of musical humor more proudly and more successfully than any performer since Allan Sherman. In the world of novelty records — a genre noted for its extensive back catalog of flashes-in-the-pan and one-hit wonders — Yankovic was king, scoring smash after smash...
