Weezer (Red Album) [Deluxe Edition] – WeezerView More By Weezer Our ReviewWeezer’s sixth album is their most ambitious to date. While still featuring the band’s trademark mix of punk-pop, crunchy powerchord guitars, smooth, soothing harmonies, and Rivers Cuomo’s aching, arching melody lines, the songs in many instances expand beyond the usual and expected. Recorded in three separate sessions, with Rick Rubin overseeing the first attempt, the band self-producing a second batch, and finally Jacknife Lee finishing things for the final polish, the self-titled “Red Album” explores new territory. The first single, “Pork and Beans,” is straight-forward and hooky, but “Heart Songs” is a four-minute tour de force, basing itself on a laid-back near G-funk groove that builds without ever climaxing, while reveling in the power of music as Cuomo recounts his childhood musical faves. The six-minute “The Greatest Man That Ever Lived” includes a falsetto vocal from Cuomo, along with near-rapping and numerous stylistic shifts within the one tune. “Everybody Gets Dangerous,” from the film 21 (but not included on the soundtrack), rips with a street-walkin’ charm that resolves in a refreshing Weezer-like chorus. “Dreamin’” takes Weezer’s usual gait and stretches it over five minutes.. Customer Reviewslet's let them grow instead of always expecting another blue album. (4 stars)i have been a fan of weezer since their debut. it was the only cd i owned in the beginning of 1994. i must say that since then they have had albums i wasn't crazy about and albums i grew to love. i think it's cliche to constantly compare anything weezer does nowadays to (the blue album) or to Pinkerton. they are landmarks in rock history but we have to allow artists to move on and grow. the red album is, by far, their most accomplished recor Best Weezer Since Pinkerton (5 stars) I was 12 when the Blue Album came out, and I have bought every Weezer album since then (mostly out of a strange childhood psychological association with the band). The last album I was fully satisfied with was Pinkerton... until this one. At times, the lyrics can make you cringe ('You try to play cool like you just don't care / but soon I'll be playin' in yor underwear'... seriously?), but the music is more inventive and experimental than a To the Hatas (5 stars) I Cannot understand why you would dislike this album. Bands that stand out because of a few songs make new albums and people always freak out because the music is different. If you don't like it listen to something else, but don't say they don't put work into these songs. i doubt any of you could make a song half as good as theirs. click yea if you agree Nice Job Weezer can't wait to see it live BiographyFormed: 1993 in Los Angeles, CAGenre: Alternative Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s As one of the most popular groups to emerge in the post-grunge alternative rock aftermath, Weezer received equal amounts of criticism and praise for their hook-heavy guitar pop. Drawing from the heavy power pop of arena rockers like Cheap Trick and the angular guitar leads of the Pixies, Weezer leavened their melodies with doses of '70s metal learned from bands like Kiss. What truly set the band apart, though, was their geekiness. None of the members of Weezer, especially leader Rivers Cuomo, were...
