Vice Verses (Deluxe Version) – SwitchfootView More By Switchfoot Our ReviewSan Diego’s Switchfoot was at the forefront of the contemporary Christian hard rock scene for so long that it easily assimilated into the mainstream without sacrificing its sense of musical adventure. Vice Verses is the kind of ambitious hard rock record that fans will celebrate with good reason. It’s arguably the best of the group’s career, filled with songs that flash hooks with muscle. “The War Inside” masters the art of the dramatic arc, where keyboards loom in the background while guitars crush the competition. “Blinding Light” sets off with the group’s alt-pop side shimmering through. “Dark Horses” works both a moody texture and an anthemic chorus. The title track shifts toward Switchfoot’s acoustic arena-rock-ballad side, evoking U2 at its most intimate. “Restless” creates a pop haze both ethereal and powerful. “Selling the News” takes a political-sociological turn with vocal manipulations. “Where I Belong” rasps with a seductive warmth. The deluxe version includes a live concert from Center Stage in Atlanta that features many of the band’s fan favorites.. Customer ReviewsVice Verses Review (5 stars)Awesome Record!!!! my favorite used to be Nothing is Sound, but now I'm definitely sure it's Vice Verses. I can tell Jon has definitely changed his wrting style, and what's great about this album is that all the songs sound different. They were all right - this is the boldest album to date. The Most Inspiring Switchfoot Album Ever (5 stars) Hold on, I realize how big of a claim that is. Something truly amazing. Whether you've loved the band since "The Legend of Chin" or you've never heard of them, this album is for you. Vice Easily their best work yet (5 stars) First off, I want to say that Hello Hurricane was by far my favorite Switchfoot album ever. They got rid of that annoying christian pop sound entirely in that record, and the result was quite frankly the most gorgeous, seamless album they've ever done. But, it was very soft overall, which I loved but some people had a bit of a problem with it. Well, Vice Verses cranked the gain back up!! Not that the album is without a couple ballads, bu BiographyFormed: 1996 in San Diego, CAGenre: Rock Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s After gaining a foothold in the contemporary Christian music scene, Switchfoot went mainstream with 2003's The Beautiful Letdown, a double-platinum album that straddled the line between sacred and secular rock music. The band spent the rest of its career appealing to both camps. Years before Switchfoot's commercial breakthrough, though, the group struggled to make a dent in the San Diego area, where singer/guitarist Jonathan Foreman, bassist Tim Foreman, and drummer Chad Butler began playing together...
