This is really Genesis at its weakest point during the Gabriel era. Under the heavy influence of Jonathan King who "discovered" the band, Genesis' first recordings sound an awful lot like an improved version of the Bee Gees. After breaking with Decca and contracting with Charisma Records, Peter Gabriel had the freedom to lead the band into it's most stunning and beautiful realizations. This is NOT new material!!! (4 stars)
Regarding the previous review, this is not new material form Genesis. This is from their first album entitled "From Genesis To Revelation" from 1968. There are some great songs on the whole album. I'm not sure why they have "The Silent Sun" on here as a single.

It's a great track - but note that it was recorded in 1968 for their debut album - it does not appear to be a re-recording.
