The Reminder – FeistView More By Feist Our ReviewHer second solo album, Let It Die, was the surprise hit of 2005, winning the Canadian Juno Award for Best Alternative Album and its creator Leslie Feist the Best New Artist Award. No longer flying under the radar, this Canadian songstress wrote the follow-up in the Canary Islands and Berlin before settling into a 200 year-old manor house on the outskirts of Paris for two weeks of recording. While The Reminder lacks the element of surprise of its predecessor, it delivers on her talents. It’s stylistically all over the map, with a rotating set of musicians providing different approaches. Traces of Philly Soul inform the Gonzalez (her producer and musical collaborator) co-write “Limit to Your Love,” while the ghost of Dusty Springfield is felt on the Sally Seltmann co-write “1 2 3 4.” “The Park” is a sparse, affecting ballad that uses her sweet range for maximum effect, as “Intuition” uses a similar minimalist palette that wraps up with spiritual incantations. Though Feist’s natural phrasings lean towards bluesy-torch material, she can turn it on for the dancefloor with the upbeat “I Feel It All” just as easily.. Customer ReviewsAbsolutely beautiful (5 stars)The two singles were enough to make me realize hands down that this was going to be an amazing album! 'The Reminder' oozes with sexy, soulful and beautiful jazz, topped off with a hint of electronic movements which is enough turn even the doubtful listener into an adoring fan. Feist is sure to amaze not just with 'My Moon My Man' or '1234,' even the opening track 'So Sorry' will make any nay-sayer so sorry that they didn't snatch this albu A Truly Unique Voice (5 stars) Feist elevates pop music with a natural honesty that eminates from her vocal style. She's real, she's clever, she has fun. You can tell she's not one to suffer for her art. She actually seems to enjoy the whole process. That draws me in and I'm sure will keep me listening to The Reminder over and over just like her previous work. Seek out the video for 1234. It will make you smile for 3 minutes. Perefect? (5 stars) Yes! It has everything a cd needs; something to dance to, melodys to remember, arrangments that make you want to weep, lyrics that make you want to smile. Not a bad song on the entire cd! However, the pace is slightly slowed down after "Brandy Alexander", so the last three songs will take a couple listens to fall in love with like the others. Nonetheless, this is Leslie Feist's greatest album yet...and the best of 2007 so far... Ke BiographyBorn: 1976 in Amherst, Nova Scotia, CanadaGenre: Alternative Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s Born Leslie Feist in Amherst, Nova Scotia, singer/songwriter Feist relocated to Calgary at a young age and got her start playing in an all-girl punk band named Placebo (not to be confused with the U.K. modern rock act of the same name). After winning a battle-of-the-bands contest, Placebo (whose members were still in high school) played their first gig opening for the Ramones in 1991, and for the next five years, Feist sharpened her rock & roll ways alongside her bandmates.
