The Joshua Tree (Remastered) – U2View More By U2 Our Review1987’s The Joshua Tree cemented U2’s status as one of the 1980s preeminent groups. From Bono’s anguished cries from Mount Olympus and the Edge’s serrated guitar riffs to the rhythm section’s punishing marches and the Brian Eno-Daniel Lanois production team’s desert atmospherics, the album presented some of the band’s most memorable material in its most drastic form to date, assimilating the band’s initial post-punk energy with their fascination and immersion in American roots music. “With or Without You,” “Where the Streets Have No Name,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” and especially the often overlooked “Running to Stand Still” shimmer with intensity, nuance and elegant style.. Customer ReviewsTheir Masterpiece (5 stars)What is so amazing about U2, is nearly 30 years later, they can still fill an arena without even trying. Another awesome thing, is that you find quite the spectrum of people at a U2 show. People of all ages , young and not so young, even back in the day, come to see U2. That says a lot, I think. Joshua Tree is my favorite album. I've never tired of it. So many cd's and records that I bought 20 years ago are either lost, trashed, or collectin The Best Album of All Time (5 stars) The reviewer is crazy to think that "Bullet The Blue Sky" falls flat; it's a great tune, a different feel for U2 perhaps but still a fabulous song. There are absolutely no flat songs on the album; like me, you'll find yourself craving one of these songs at some point or another. This is the best of U2- and there isn't anything better than the Joshua Tree. the 8th wonder of the world (5 stars) the title says it all. u2 has gone beyond excellent. BiographyFormed: 1976 in Dublin, IrelandGenre: Rock Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s Through a combination of zealous righteousness and post-punk experimentalism, U2 became one of the most popular rock & roll bands of the '80s. They were rock & roll crusaders during an era of synthesized pop and heavy metal, equally known for their sweeping sound as for their grandiose statements about politics and religion. The Edge provided the group with a signature sound by creating sweeping sonic landscapes with his heavily processed, echoed guitars. Though the Edge's style wasn't conventional,...
