The College Dropout – Kanye WestView More By Kanye West Our ReviewCollege Dropout poses ethical questions about living poor and wanting (and achieving) more. ("I'll Fly Away," "Spaceship," and "All Falls Down" are prime examples.) There are moments of fierce determination on "Through the Wire" and "Never Let Me Down" that give the record additional lift. The Chicago producer aimed the magnifying glass inward to reveal a bifurcation of expectations as "the first nigga with a Benz and a backpack." On "Graduation Day," a voice chastises him for not making songs for the kids. "Jesus Walks" asks pointed questions about the role of religion in music. And West does this with a magician's sleight-of-hand, a generous amount of sweetener, and a cheetah's ear for hooks. Overhyped? Nah, College Dropout deserved every Grammy award it won and more.. Customer ReviewsJesus Walks With Kanye West ‘Cause He’s the Best! (5 stars)An awesome album. Awesome Songs: We Don't Care All Falls Down Jesus Walks Get ‘Em High The New Workout Plan Slow Jamz School Spirit Through the Wire The rest is still really good (even though last call is soooo long and the last ¾ is just talking). Buy the whole album. All of it. NOW. It’s better than Late Registration (but LR is still really good as well). All the songs are great at the least and the skits are hilarious. The lyrics ar Groundbreaking (5 stars) Kanye's first album is definitely a classic. Moving hip hop music away from stagnant waters, Kanye uses comedy, religion, and innovative beats to 'change the game of hip hop'. While "Jesus Walks" and "Slow Jamz" gets all of the play, and press, "Through The Wire" is credited for getting Damon Dash to recognize Kanye's skill as a rapper, it is "New Workout Plan", "All Falls Down" and the seve Made History... well to me any way (5 stars) This album is probably one of the greatest albums that I have ever heard in my entire life. It made me regert all the years that I missed out on Hip Hop not giving it a chance. Most people are still talking about "Jesus Walks". I may be Catholic but that's not my favorite song. What did it for me was "Never Let Me Down". It should have been the one with the music video although if you pay close attention to the "Jesu BiographyBorn: June 08, 1977 in Atlanta, GAGenre: Hip Hop/Rap Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s In the span of three short years, Kanye West went from hip-hop beatmaker to worldwide hitmaker, as his stellar production work for Jay-Z led to a major-label recording contract and, ultimately, a wildly successful solo career. West paired his beats with tongue-twisting raps and a self-assured, flamboyant personality. His dapper fashion sense set him apart from many of his rap peers, and his confidence often came across as boastful or even egotistical, albeit amusingly so. This flamboyance, of course,...
