Four stars as an album...FIVE STARS for the band! (4 stars)
Whether you are a DLR loyalist, a Van-Hagarite, or just like both, this is the best of Van Halen...not Roth, not Hagar, but the band as a whole. And, it is indeed the best of both worlds! The only reason that I don't give this four stars is because, well, all the songs are mixed up! I personally think that the songs should be divided up, but I guess Eddie was hoping for some unity this time around. Despite this, the compilation is magnific

Wow! (5 stars)
This is a 2-disc masterpiece that is essential to any Van Halen or any classic rock collection. Just about all 36 of the songs on this album are terrific, and are all big hits. It's also very thorough, yet has very little filler to sort through. When I listen to this album, I hardly skip any songs. It begins, like many of his albums, with "Eruption," a great guitar solo, then dives into three new songs, which IMHO are pretty good,

This is the best rock album i have ever heard. Eddie on the guitar tearing it up and david lee with his screaming vocals make this album a one of a kind. I would pay 50 bucks for this let alone 16. But this album. Best songs are Panama, Jump, Poundcake, and of course eruption.

Guitarist Eddie Van Halen redefined what electric guitar could do, developing a blindingly fast technique with a variety of self-taught two-handed tapping, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and effects that mimicked the sounds of machines and animals. It was wildly inventive and over the top, equaled only by vocalist David Lee Roth, who brought the role of a metal singer to near-performance art...
