The Best of 25 Years – StingView More By Sting Our ReviewThe Best of 25 Years distills Sting’s extensive 25 Years collection into 12 quick doses of everything he does so well. It includes the 2011 remixes of “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free,” “We’ll Be Together,” and “Never Coming Home,” as well as three live cuts from New York’s Irving Plaza. The live cuts, in their 2011 remixed forms, are bright, alluring, and diverse. The Police’s “Message in a Bottle” is crisp pop, with tough guitars giving the song its necessary brawn. “Demolition Man”—which Sting wrote for Grace Jones and recorded on his own for the Sylvester Stallone/Wesley Snipes film of the same name—is dense hard rock. “Heavy Cloud No Rain” gives up an easy funk. “Whenever I Say Your Name,” featuring Mary J. Blige, won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. The megahits “If I Ever Lose My Faith in You” and “Fields of Gold” from Ten Summoner’s Tales and “Desert Rose” from Brand New Day round out this solo-career summary.. Customer ReviewsTired (1 star)I'm a HUGE Sting fan…but gotta say…..I'm disappointed that he has not released anything original in soooooo long. Tired of this re-packaged stuff I've already heard. Plus….I think I'm not alone in saying these are NOT the best of 25 years. Why should I cry for you……... Disappointing (1 star) Sting is one of my all time favorite artists, but I am truly disappointed in this release. How many "best of's" and re-releases do we need? Sting is/was a creative musical genius, where is that genius now? Cashing in on loyal fools... I mean, fans. Please, give us something new! Also, I can't see how this compilation of 12 songs rates as the best of 25 years. REALLY? Why would you want to buy this!! (1 star) As creative as Sting is , my respect for him is waning. I hate when a artist allows the record companies to try to make a quick easy buck putting out the same crap over and over! ie Dave Matthews - the king of serving up the same crap 10 different ways! BiographyBorn: October 02, 1951 in Wallsend, EnglandGenre: Rock Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s After disbanding the Police at the peak of their popularity in 1984, Sting quickly established himself as a viable solo artist, one obsessed with expanding the boundaries of pop music. Sting incorporated heavy elements of jazz, classical, and worldbeat into his music, writing lyrics that were literate and self-consciously meaningful, and he was never afraid to emphasize this fact in the press. For such unabashed ambition, he was equally loved and reviled, with supporters believing that he was at...
