Teaser and the Firecat – Cat StevensView More By Cat Stevens Our ReviewReleased in 1971, less than a year after the stunning Tea for the Tillerman, Teaser and the Firecat yielded some of Cat Stevens’ most enduring songs — “Peace Train,” “Morning Has Broken,” “Moonshadow” — but there’s much more to the album than its singles. This is a cohesive and moving record that ranges from delicate ballads to irresistible sing-along anthems, and features a slew of elegant melodies. The lyrics range from joyous to serious, but natural optimism shines through despite his sometimes dismal take on the state of the world. In addition to the above hits, other highlights include the infectious Caribbean lilt of “Tuesday’s Dead,” the lyrical bouzouki lines on “Rubylove,” the fingerpicked guitar melody on “The Wind,” and the stuttering groove of “Bitterblue.” Among the warmest of folk-rock singers, his voice carries these songs, rising and falling with each subtle shift in melody or tempo. Released in the midst of a creative outpouring that stretched across seven albums in five years, Teaser and the Firecat stands out as one of the strongest recordings of his impressive career.. Customer ReviewsPure beauty for your ears (5 stars)I dont have this on my iPOD, but I do have this album on vinyl. Out of my whole collection, this is the one that gets played the most. It's just beautiful music. Plus, this particular album has a song for every mood that you can be in. Cat Stevens is just amazing, and this is easily his best ablum ever Excellent (5 stars) I discovered this record in my parent's collection when I was a teenager. I used to put it on while doing homework. The music is also great for long road trips. "The Wind" might be one of my top ten favorite songs. "How Can I Tell You" sometimes makes my eyes water - reminding me of all the ordeals that come with being shy. It's a nature hike through your soul (5 stars) Kick off the hiking boots, put down your back pack and take a trip along with Cat Stevens when you listen to this amazing album. Sure 'album' is an old word, but I'm an old guy, and I still imagine being a teenager holding the album art listening to this incredible work over and over. There are moments that make me want to weep, but the over all joy always wins. Get it, listen, and live in peace.
