Singles Collection: The London Years (Remastered) – The Rolling StonesView More By The Rolling Stones Our ReviewThis is the mother lode — 58 Stones singles (A and B sides) from the '60s, in chronological order. And could the Stones ever churn out singles! Every A-side is a gem and even few of the B-sides seem disposable. Strung together like this they make for nothing less than a history lesson, a breathless run from the days when British rockers wanted nothing more than to play American blues through a time when every recording session was a cultural event. And this all happened in a span in which most bands today would release just two or three albums. Where to begin? At the beginning, of course. And let it roll straight to the end.. Customer Reviewsgood compilation, interesting backround (4 stars)this a pretty goood compilation of stones songs. also it should be noted that the Beatles penned "i wanna be your man" and John and Paul are actually on backing vocals on "dandelions" and "we love you" you can really hear them good on dandelions too. but anyways this is the stones we are talking bout here and this has some really great tracks on it. the stones where in there prime when they made these songs...an The Stones weren't just a great album band (5 stars) The Stones weren't just a band who made great albums; this set makes a convincing argument that they were one of the best singles bands of all-time, too. Esssential listening. man there's a lot here (5 stars) all the stones singles before they flew the coop for America from their earliest chuck berry impersonation days straight through to sympathy for the devil and everything else in between. not to mention, this has all the b-sides, which were just as good as any single the stones could have produced, but in some cases, a lot darker or less radio friendly, but still great. BiographyFormed: April, 1962 in London, EnglandGenre: Rock Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s By the time the Rolling Stones began calling themselves the World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the late '60s, they had already staked out an impressive claim on the title. As the self-consciously dangerous alternative to the bouncy Merseybeat of the Beatles in the British Invasion, the Stones had pioneered the gritty, hard-driving blues-based rock & roll that came to define hard rock. With his preening machismo and latent maliciousness, Mick Jagger became the prototypical rock frontman,...
