It’s nearly inevitable that performers suffer the ups and downs of commercial fortune regardless of their intrinsic value. Timing is everything, and while Adams’ unpretentious, guitar-rock hit the perfect middle of the road in the 1980s and early 1990s with hits such as “Cuts Like A Knife” and “Heaven,” by the new millennium it was almost predetermined that his star was on the descent. Which is a shame since 2004’s Room Service is every bit as satisfying as his previous, better known releases. If anything, the production is tighter and even better suited to his gravelly, roadworn voice (“Flying” sounds as if the desert air has completely parched his throat). “East Side Story,” “This Side of Paradise,” and the sweet sashay of “Not Romeo, Not Juliet” deliver the same strong no-nonsense melodic hard rock of his predecessors. If anything, there’s an undercurrent of maturity here both musically and lyrically that make these songs deeply gripping as the organ holds down the walls of guitar with a serious gravitas. The party isn’t quite over, but Adams is moderating to make sure he can get up in the morning without regret.

The album in general is below average, but Open Road is a hit especially whent it was the theme song for Sportscenter's 50 states in 50 days. Great idea ESPN, and great song Bryan Adams.

Bryan Bounces Back!!! (5 stars)
Most of Bryan's recent albums had been greatest hits albums or greatest hits albums with 1 or 2 new songs. However, this album features 11 new songs! All are great in their own ways! If you don't have any Bryan Adams Records make sure you get this album and his greatest hits album THE BEST OF ME.

Found this album by accident looking for a new Bryan Adams song I heard on the radio. There isn't one good song on this album....THEY'RE ALL GOOD!!!!
