Rebels On the Run – Montgomery GentryView More By Montgomery Gentry Our ReviewMontgomery Gentry’s seventh studio album may have had tumultuous roots, but the duo sounds more solid than ever on Rebels on the Run. “Damn Right I Am” kickstarts the album with a flag-waving, fist-pumping, soldier-thanking anthem that also champions the Constitution’s Second Amendment. The duo unleashes timeless twang-rock on the following “Ain’t No Law Against That,” where banjos, standup piano, pedal steel, and distorted Telecasters kick out a rowdy tune with a strong carpe diem sentiment. Of course it wouldn’t be a Montgomery Gentry album without some heavy love for small-town living, and “Where I Come From” gives ’80s-era John Mellencamp a run for his money with a heartland hymn that champions the Mayberry life with honed hooks of golden melody..
