Proud to Be Here – Trace AdkinsView More By Trace Adkins Our ReviewThis Louisiana singer has one of the most commanding voices in all of modern country. He’s able to command authority and still express his vulnerable side. The title track is the actual tale of his Tennessee home burning down. He was on tour; his wife and kids escaped without harm. Such a reminder of mortality chokes up this man’s man, who elsewhere shows further love for family and tradition with “Just Fishin’” and an empathy for the many people who have made him a star. “Days Like This” proves everyone has days that test one’s patience. “That’s What You Get” throws a muscular rock groove and a swirling organ into Adkins’ pure country. “Love Buzz” adds a slinky harmonica blues to the mix. “It’s Who You Know” spotlights stellar harmonies and a sad human truth. The Deluxe Edition features several essential highlights. “Semper Fi” tributes the men and women of the U.S. military and their bravery, while his playful duet with Blake Shelton on “If I Was a Woman” is a fantastic, spirited honky-tonk number that concludes, “I’d love a man like me.” A video for “Just Fishin’” featuring his daughter is also included..
