MTV Unplugged: Kiss – KISSView More By KISS Our ReviewRather than reinvent their catalog of stadium rock classics, Kiss revisited a handful of their acoustic numbers for their session of MTV Unplugged. From Dressed To Kill, “Rock Bottom” is renowned for its intro of cascading arpeggios, while “I Still Love You” and “Every Time I Look at You” are two gooey Paul Stanley power ballads left over from the ‘80s era. Some of the band’s less-regarded material works surpassingly well in this setting, including “Do You Love Me” (from Dynasty) and “A World Without Heroes” (from Music From The Elder). Even makeup-era anthems like “Comin’ Home” and “Plaster Caster” come off full and vigorous, proving that the Kiss sound holds up without all the pyrotechnics and walls of amplifiers. Of course, this 1995 taping holds a special meaning for Kiss fans, as it is the first time the four original band members had played together since 1979. You can instantly sense the renewed camaraderie and kinetic energy when Ace Frehley comes on to lead a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “2000 Man.” Peter Criss’s ragged voice has aged well, and the band plays “Beth” with a bittersweet wisdom. By the time each original member chimes in on verses of “Rock and Roll All Nite” their comeback tour is a foregone conclusion.. Customer ReviewsThe Ultimate Comeback Concert (5 stars)C'mon, pre-'96 KISS was yesterday's news. A laughable 80's hair band, still trudging along, a million miles from their 70's heyday. Back then, the most vibrant thing about KISS were the conventions, where diehard fans exchanged antique tchotchkes from their childhood and banged their receding hairlines to KISS cover bands like Black Diamond. Then, out of nowhere, KISS gets tapped to do an MTV Unplugged show. A perfect fit since Unplugged, MTV Unpluged; Kiss (5 stars) Kiss is the best. This album is one of their best yet. I grew up listening to Kiss and these songs bring back A lot of memories from when I used to beg my older brother to lend me his Kiss albums or for my parents to buy me one of their albums. My Second Favorite Album Of Kiss (5 stars) Fantastic Album!!! o my, my, my what a treat this was. I love how great KISS's Acoustic versions of songs are there a world of better than the original...the best being "Comin Home" great opening track...it's so better than the original...and so is Rock N Roll All Nite...way better in acoustic...Sure Know Something was fantastic too and so was Rock Bottom, World Without Heroes, Going Blind and Plaster Caster. Even Do You Love Me wa BiographyFormed: 1973 in New York, NYGenre: Rock Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s Rooted in the campy theatrics of Alice Cooper and the sleazy hard rock of glam rockers the New York Dolls, Kiss became a favorite of American teenagers in the '70s. Most kids were infatuated with the look of Kiss, not their music. Decked out in outrageously flamboyant costumes and makeup, the band fashioned a captivating stage show featuring dry ice, smoke bombs, elaborate lighting, blood spitting, and fire breathing that captured the imaginations of thousands of kids. But Kiss' music shouldn't be...
