More Than You Think You Are – Matchbox TwentyView More By Matchbox Twenty Our ReviewOn their third album, More Than You Think You Are, Matchbox Twenty build upon the arena rock that brought them massive success while adding a few fresh touches, including keyboards, some pedal steel guitar, and even a full choir on one song. Rob Thomas’ dramatic and powerful vocals remain central to their overall sound, but this is no one-man show; the band’s versatility keeps the songs interesting and dynamic, giving these tunes the space to breath and leaving room for catchy riffs and piano fills that help the songs to soar. Whether it’s a rocker (“Feel”), radio-friendly pop (“Disease,” which was co-written by Thomas and Mick Jagger), or a power ballad (“Hand Me Down,” “The Difference”), this quintet knows how to deliver melodic and straightforward rock with a punch.. Customer ReviewsAwesome, definately their best (5 stars)Feel - A great introduction to the album, one of the band's heaviest songs. - 10/10 Disease - Amazing song, co-written by Mick Jagger, and features great guitar from Kyle and Adam. - 10/10 Bright Lights - Good song, with Rob on the piano and a great solo from Kyle. 9/10 Unwell - The big hit, great guitar, drums, vocals, and lyrics. 10/10 Cold - Another heavy song. Really good. - 10/10 All I Need - Has a 60s-ish sound. Good, but can get stuck If I could give 6 stars... (5 stars) This albumn is sooo freakin good. I would definetly put this band in my top 5, probably 3. And let me tell you why. I'm the person who always says, "yea, but it'll never compare to the debut albumn" or be the first to notice when the song isn't heartfelt and probably written by a genius, but it's not the band's song. But these artists floor me everytime. And instead of feeling less turned on by the albumns following the first No hooks? (5 stars) This reviewer needs his ears cleaned out. This album rocks with great songs like "disease, bright lights, unwell, all i need, downfall". Its rare that an album can have so many catchy songs and this one clearly does. As their first single, "Push," climbed the charts, it was widely assumed (at least by cynical critics) that they were a one-hit wonder, but Yourself or Someone Like You continued to spin off singles well into 1998. By that time, the group's blend of '70s arena rock and early-'90s...
