Live At Shea Stadium – The Concert – Billy JoelView More By Billy Joel Our ReviewWho better to bid farewell to the New York Mets’ legendary Shea Stadium than Long Island’s own legend, Billy Joel. Joel is the perfect performer for the venue, able to sing to the final seat in the house. He runs through his incredible catalog and invites Tony Bennett for “New York State of Mind,” Garth Brooks for “Shameless,” John Mayer for “This Is the Time,” and Paul McCartney, another Shea regular, for revved-up renditions of “I Saw Her Standing There” and “Let It Be,” songs that serve both ends of the concert spectrum. Joel was in great spirits and he nails it with “Captain Jack,” “Piano Man,” a clever medley of “The River of Dreams” and “A Hard Day’s Night.” Even “We Didn’t Start the Fire” gets the audience fired up. The inclusion of “Summer, Highland Falls” and “The Ballad of Billy The Kid” satisfy the hardcore fans, while everyone can rally with “You May Be Right.”. Customer ReviewsGreat Billy Joel performance. For example, why could he not reach deeper into his catalogue and played songs like, "Sl Ever since I saw him in Oliver & Company, I knew Billy had talent (4 stars) I love these songs, keep it up, Billy! BiographyBorn: May 09, 1949 in New York, NY [The Bronx]Genre: Rock Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s Although Billy Joel never was a critic's favorite, the pianist emerged as one of the most popular singer/songwriters of the latter half of the '70s. Joel's music consistently demonstrates an affection for Beatlesque hooks and a flair for Tin Pan Alley and Broadway melodies. His fusion of two distinct eras made him a superstar...
