Life Is Peachy – KornView More By Korn Our ReviewKorn’s sophomore album delves even deeper into the dark recesses of the disaffected soul as Jonathan Davis unleashes buried rage and expounds revenge fantasies. “No Place to Hide,” Kill You” and “K@#*%!” form a trilogy of spastic exorcisms, as Davis purges the pent-up emotions left over from a deeply troubling childhood. The band has perfected the perfect sonic accompaniment for these violent therapy sessions. Sheets of atonal, abstract sound hurl the listener towards the tremendous release of the Korn chorus: a barrage of throttling, detuned guitar aggression that erupts from the bottom like molten lava. Even at their most atonal, Korn still exhibit a deeply held allegiance to the groove. Covers of War’s “Lowrider” and Ice Cube’s “Wicked” point toward influences well outside the realm of heavy metal. Regardless of the musical textures, Life Is Peachy is unified in its focus. From the sexual chants of “A.D.I.D.A.S.” to the animalistic discharge of “Twist,” this is a vision of hard rock obsessed with its most primal anger.. Am I right? life IS peachy (4 stars) This album and their self titled debut are the only Korn I listen too. At a time when grunge was popular, and three chord guitar solos ran on for a minute and a half, Korn came out and snarled and growled their way into my Sony Discman. Best songs are Swallow, Twist, Good God and No Place to Hide. Turn it up! BiographyFormed: 1992 in Bakersfield, CAGenre: Rock Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s Korn's cathartic alternative metal sound positioned the group among the most popular and provocative to emerge during the post-grunge era. Korn began their existence as the Bakersfield, California-based metal band LAPD, which included guitarists James "Munky" Shaffer and Brian "Head" Welch, bassist Reginald "Fieldy Snuts" Arvizu, and drummer David Silveria. After issuing an LP, the members of LAPD in 1993 crossed paths with Jonathan Davis, a mortuary science student moonlighting...
