Let Your Hair Down (Special Edition) – Steve Miller BandView More By Steve Miller Band Our ReviewRecorded at the same sessions at George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch studio as Miller’s previous album, Bingo!, Let Your Hair Down further explores the Chicago blues that first set Steve Miller off into the world of music. Miller’s in fine voice, but more importantly he's also in great guitar form and tracks such as Robert Johnson’s “Sweet Home Chicago,” Muddy Waters’ “Can’t Be Satisfied” and Willie Dixon’s “Pretty Thing” and “Love the Life I Live” all benefit from Miller’s expert guitar-work and stewardship. Miller is nowhere near his ‘70s FM radio-staple self. He’s still smoother than most and yet able to convey a tough conviction. There are four bonus tracks on this “Special Edition,” including a take on Calvin Carter’s “I Ain’t Got You,” a tune best known to rock fans by its Yardbirds performance. The bonus material fits in perfectly with the official album, extending the tribute to the blues with an intense version of Charles Brown, Eddie Williams and Johnny Moore’s “Driftin’ Blues” that ends this collection on a truly passionate note.. Customer ReviewsSo-so. (3 stars)Miller is a true talent, he's already proven that through the years, but this album lacks versatility and sincerity. First off, there are no stand out tracks. In fact it all sounds kind of the same, same guitar (faux) blues licks, same harmonica ad libs etc. I can already guess that the die hard fans will love it. (in their minds he can do no wrong anyway) but for the listener trying to discover Mr. Miller, this aint the one....with the exc Look@urself! (5 stars) I,d like the soso reviewer to sincerely look at them self in the mirror and say I have know versatility 100 times! Steve Miller is Back! (5 stars) Love your music and great that you've put together some new good listening tunes! BiographyFormed: 1966 in San Francisco, CAGenre: Rock Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s Steve Miller's career has encompassed two distinct stages: one of the top San Francisco blues-rockers during the late '60s and early '70s, and one of the top-selling pop/rock acts of the mid- to late '70s and early '80s with hits like "The Joker," "Fly Like an Eagle," "Rock'n Me," and "Abracadabra." Miller was turned on to music by his father, who worked as a pathologist but knew stars like Charles Mingus and Les Paul, whom he brought home as guests; Paul taught the young Miller some guitar chords...
