Let Love In – The Goo Goo DollsView More By The Goo Goo Dolls Our ReviewIn a world full of uncertainties, you can always count on the Goo Goo Dolls to deliver passionate declarations of love and defiance. 2006’s Let Love In finds them serving up some of their sturdiest slices of rock balladry since their mega-hit “Iris.” This time, Glen Ballard (known for his work with Alanis Morissette, among many others) lends his expert studio polish to enhance Johnny Rzeznik’s rough-yet-heroic singing style. “Stay With You,” “Better Days,” and the title tune are the sort of world-defying anthems that the band’s fans crave to hear. Rzeznik sustains a slow burn on moodier numbers like “We’ll Be Here (When You’re Gone)” and “Without You Here,” adding some welcome shadows to the album. The Goos manage to scuff up Supertramp’s “Give a Little Bit” just enough to make it their own, and when bassist Rob Takac lends his gritty vocal tones to “Listen” and “Strange Love,” he reconnects with the band’s punkier days. For the most part, though, Let Love In keeps the focus upon the sort of grandiose radio-friendly numbers that have sustained these Dolls for over a decade.. Customer ReviewsThey did it again! (5 stars)The Goo Goo Dolls have been around for now almost 20 years and they're like wine, the more they age, the better they get. This cd is amazing. You will not regret buying it. I know I haven't. Let Love In! (I met the Goo's and they are amazing!) I remember these guys. (5 stars) I remember the Goo Goo Dolls when they were popular back in the late 90's. I haven't even listened to them since then, truthfully. I tried out this album for the heck of it and came away in complete surprise that they have gotten even better than I ever remembered. So I guess if you liked them back in the day, you'll still love them now. Great Stuff. Just as Good as Dizzy Up the Girl (5 stars) "Let Love In" is a beautiful album that I have been waiting the Goo Goo Dolls to put out since 1998. I personally was disappointed with "Gutterflower" because I felt that album was a little too safe and a little too Goo-generic. The sound of this album does emphasize John's vocals, but I find the album more complete and wholeistic for it. It's a great piece of work and would recommend it to any Goo, U2, or Train fan out t BiographyFormed: 1985 in Buffalo, NYGenre: Rock Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s Early in their career, the Goo Goo Dolls were frequently dismissed by critics as mere imitators of the Replacements; however, they refined and mainstreamed their sound to become one of the most popular adult alternative rock bands of the 1990s, selling millions of records to audiences largely unfamiliar with their influences. That's no knock on the band, either — the music simply improved in craft and accessibility as the years progressed, and radio happened to be receptive to a style that,...
