Kingdom Come – Jay-ZView More By Jay-Z Our ReviewAfter three years of running Def Jam’s “business, man” and the occasional, often uninspired cameo, Jay-Z returns with a strong stack of beats and rhymes. Oh, and attitude – he has read The Art of War, after all. Kingdom Come brings plenty of wisdom of the sort that even Jack Welch might learn from. Especially “Y’all respect the one who got shot, I respect the shooter” (from “30 Something”). Despite that and the expected nods to Scarface and GoodFellas, however, Jay’s true state of mind seems attuned to a certain caution; he’s glad to pass on what he knows, but he isn’t really here to stir stuff up. “Oh My God” references his world tour and the social consciousness it tweaked, even acknowledging that his lyrical topics are somewhat limited. (It’ll be interesting to hear what he has to say after he’s further digested his recent experiences “down in Africa.”) But his ebullience and flow are still on, as if he’s relieved to be back to the real calling after long days at the office.. Customer ReviewsI see what Hov's doing, but.. (4 stars)Well...1st, let me say...I'm a Jay-Z fan, but moreso, I'm a fan of the music. I live hip hop and have been for many years. Brooklyn born and bred, I feel like an even bigger supporter of Hov and his music... With that said...Overall, I think t his album is better than most other albums at the time, and in the past. I DO feel a tad-bit dissapointed...but my dissapointment is selfish. I was expecting a Jay-Z album full of straight BANGERS...l Perfect - HOV's Kingdom is Here (4 stars) Jay-z truly has come back, defying his claims of his retirement and he has came back from his abscence of the rap game with a truly great album. The album has amazing beats produced by the likes of DJ Khalil, the Neptunes, Swizz Beats and Just Blaze. Jay-Z gives a flow very much unparalleled, but we'll see what Nas comes out with later this winter. Jay-Z is accompanied by great artists such as John Legend, Dr. Dre, Pharrell, Beyonce and Chri Immature need not apply!!! (5 stars) Ok….I usually don’t write reviews because really I don’t see how people could possible care what I have to say. With that being said I will start by saying that I am 32 years old, have a family, I own a home and 3 cars. I have bills and hold down a career. I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!!! Most that give this 1 star are not in that bracket, This is NOT for the Chicken Noodle Soup crowd!!! This album is for individuals who GREW UP with Hov fro BiographyBorn: December 04, 1969 in Brooklyn, NYGenre: Hip Hop/Rap Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s Embodying the rags-to-riches rap dream, Jay-Z pulled himself up by his bootstraps as a youth to eventually become the reigning rapper of New York City and, in turn, a major-label executive following his short-lived retirement from music-making. In the wake of his 1996 debut, Reasonable Doubt, Jay-Z's albums sold millions upon millions with each release, and his endless parade of hits made him omnipresent on urban radio and video television. He retained a strongly devoted fan base and challenged whatever...
