Infinity On High – Fall Out BoyView More By Fall Out Boy Our ReviewOn Infinity on High, Fall Out Boy's first album since hitting the Big (Really Huge) Time, tracks like “Fame < Infamy” and “Don’t You Know Who I Think I Am?” find the band wrestling with topics like sudden fame and celebrity. Bass player and lyricist Pete Wentz’ maturity and insights prove disarming, entertaining, and helpful in writing songs with humor and surprising depth. (Bon mots such as, “Bandwagon's full. Please, catch another,” and “I thought I loved you / but it was just how you looked in the light” threaten to lodge his tongue permanently in his cheek). Small surprises work to keep things fresh in the band’s familiar emo-pop realm: the metallic guitar barbs on “Thriller,” the sweet “doo doo dooo”s sprinkled like candy all over “This Ain’t a Scene,” and Patrick Stump’s pop croon on “I’m Like a Lawyer” show a willingness to stretch and bend. Any original fans disappointed by the relatively light, pop feel on “Golden” and “The (After) Life of the Party,” will find solace in the breakneck speed of “You’re Crashing” and the hint of Bad Religion guitar grandiosity on “Bang the Doldrums.”. Customer ReviewsInfinity on High (5 stars)1. Thriller (9.4): One of my favorites on this album. It's a great opening with Jay-Z speaking in the beginning introducing everyone to the album and all of sudden the guitars and drums kick in at once. Very powerful. 2. "The Take Over, The Break's Over" (9.2): This is a very catchy song, I like the guitar in the beginning. The bridge is a cool part with some piano keys and Patrick's vocals. 3. This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Ra GREAT (5 stars) Not as good as their last, but thats just means below amazing. Beats become monotonous at times along with the vocals so the tracks that stay offbeat and original (ones I recommend): 1. Thriller 2. The Take Over, the Break's Over 3. These boys have accomplished in 6 years what many never achieve in a lifetime. Nearly 2 years ago FOB released their critically aclaimed From Under The Cork Tree and now the boys comeback with an album prepared to skyrocket the band even further than ever before. The group's four members first came together in suburban Wilmette, a bedroom community just 14 miles north of Chicago, around 2001. Vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist/lyricist Pete Wentz, drummer Andrew Hurley, and guitarist Joe Trohman had all taken part in various bands connected to Chicago's...
