Houses of the Holy (Remastered) – Led ZeppelinView More By Led Zeppelin Our ReviewLed Zeppelin were never a group of settlers. Their previous album, IV virtually defined the hard rock genre with its era-defining guitar riffs and bombastic destiny. It remains among rock’s essential albums. The follow-up never tries to emulate that achievement. Instead, Houses of the Holy approaches things from a diverse, genre-busting side. “The Song Remains the Same” opens things at their leisure, opting for a dense guitar-heavy maelstrom that soon gives way to the meditative seven-and-a-half minutes of “The Rain Song.” Guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist-keyboardist John Paul Jones work in lockstep, weaving mystical passages (the shivering mellotron-heavy “No Quarter”), dynamic acoustic/electric rock (“Over the Hills and Far Away”), reggae (“D’Yer Maker”) and both pseudo-funk (the James Brown homage “The Crunge”) and their own legitimate brand of groove rock (“The Ocean,” “Dancing Days”) always with a sense of musical space that allowed each instrument to shine individually and work within the context of the group. Led Zeppelin mastered each genre they attempted. They never shied from a new idea. And they often succeeded brilliantly with each risk.. Customer ReviewsThis... (5 stars)This is the pinnacle of music. This is the reason I own an iPod, and that I own iTunes. This... is art. GREAT (5 stars) It finally happend, they put one of the 3 bands left to be placed on iTunes. Now they need The Beatles and Ac/Dc and theyll have everything worth buying off iTunes Good Price (5 stars) Obviously, the album is amazing, as is anything by Zep, but for only 8 bucks, i'd recommend it to anyone that doesn't have it already (Shame on You, by the way!) Highlights of this album include The song remains the same the rain song over the hills and far away the crunge dancing days d'yer mak'er no quarter the ocean. (:P if you didn't notice, thats the whole album) BiographyFormed: July, 1968 in EnglandGenre: Rock Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s Led Zeppelin was the definitive heavy metal band. It wasn't just their crushingly loud interpretation of the blues — it was how they incorporated mythology, mysticism, and a variety of other genres (most notably world music and British folk) — into their sound. Led Zeppelin had mystique. They rarely gave interviews, since the music press detested the band. Consequently, the only connection the audience had with the band was through the records and the concerts. More than any other band,...
