Gavin DeGraw – Gavin DeGrawView More By Gavin DeGraw Our ReviewThe long-awaited follow-up to Gavin DeGraw's debut album Chariot furthers his foray into modern blue eyed soul. "In Love With A Girl" opens the album with grungy guitar riffs and flowing melodies before "Next To Me (Wait A Minute Sister)" bounces in with a smooth stride, sounding a little like a cross between Jason Mraz and Rob Thomas. The sing-along melodies and emotionally charged lyrics of infidelity in "Cheated On Me" makes for an obvious choice in a radio single. "Young Love" is a standout ballad with a sparseness that allows you to really hear the deep, rich tone in DeGraw's vocal timbre, and "Let It Go" is a similarly sentimental ballad where his smooth voice wraps around textured guitar distortion making for an effective sonic contrast. If you're looking for an instant party jam, "Medicate The Kids" should do the job with its head-bobbing verses and skyrocketing choruses where layered vocals build a wall of singing that sounds so good it's hard to remember that this song is railing against the pharmaceutical climate. The romantic and anthemic "We Belong Together" is a great way to book end this worthy return for DeGraw.. Customer ReviewsDoesn't Disappoint (5 stars)This definitely doesn't disappoint. My favorites tend to lean on the slower songs because he really hits home. But then there's some rockers on here that get the job done all the same. These all include: In Love With a Girl - The first single that is as good (if not better in my opinion) as "I Don't Wanna Be" from his debut "Chariot" album. The chorus gets stuck in your head. 5/5 Next To Me (Wait A Minute Sister) - Abou It's All About Love (4 stars) Gavin DeGraw's latest self-titled album is everything you'd come to expect from the rock crooner; it's heartfelt, charming, and witty. The album's core topic is of love, the many ups and downs of a person's romantic life. The first single, “In Love With a Girl” is DeGraw's most aggressive song yet. It burns like the passion of a new flame thanks to catchy hooks and strong guitar riffs. “Cheated On Me” has Gavin singing over a melodi so disappointing!!! (2 stars) how many times have you heard this story: 1) artist has huge breakout record with a fresh, original sound and amazing songs. 2) with a gigantic budget for the second record, artist and label recruit the "top" producers/mixers/etc without a thought to what is the RIGHT fit for the artist. 3) sophomore record is released with (comparatively) mediocre songs, an ultra-slick sound, and ZERO soul. here is where we find ourselves with BiographyBorn: February 04, 1977 in South Fallsburg, NYGenre: Rock Years Active: '00s, '10s Years before "I Don't Want to Be" propelled him to pop/rock success, songwriter Gavin DeGraw began honing his piano skills at the age of eight, followed by his participation in several cover bands with his older brother in upstate New York. After a brief stint at the prestigious Berklee School of Music — where he rubbed shoulders with future singer/songwriter contemporary John Mayer — DeGraw decided to take his original songs to New York City. He arrived during the late '90s and steadily...
