Freedom – AkonView More By Akon Our ReviewWith Freedom Akon continues an astonishing course of success, delivering a set of songs so accessible they work as well whether played at top volume in a night club or as background music in a doctor’s office. Either way, you are unlikely to get these melodies out of your head. Club tracks like “Beautiful” and “Right Now (Na Na Na)” hurtle through the space without an ounce of weight or friction. When listening to these songs one has the feeling of being simultaneously propelled forward and suspended in thin air. Meanwhile, the disarmingly simple music-box melodies of “Sunny Day” and “Be With You” continue the tradition started by “Don’t Matter.” Other songs show Akon to be one of hip-hop’s most reliable point men. “Holla Holla” folds his voice and protégé T-Pain’s voice into a single entity, while the raspy rhyming of Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy forms a perfect complement to Akon’s innocence on “I’m So Paid.”. Customer ReviewsFreedom (5 stars)Akon's third studio album, Freedom, was much anticipated after the singles Right Now (Na Na Na) and I'm So Paid. Here are the songs of the album with their reviews and a rating out of 10. 1. Right Now (Na Na Na) (7.5 out of 10) The lead single, pretty much everyone said that the single was good, but that there is no depth to the song whatsoever. Akon says Na Na Na way too many times in the song. 2. Beautiful (featuring Colby O'Donis &am new song, beautiful (4 stars) I love Akon's new song, beautiful!!! It's so awsome! =) "Freedom" a New Direction for Akon, Each Track Unqiue. (4 stars) So I normally don't purchase Akon's albums, normally just a single track or two. But I really liked what I heard off of Freedom. Those familiar with Kanye West's "808s & Heartbreak" (arguably, more popular than "Freedom) know that it was a new direction for Kanye West, and became a refreshing new sound for him and the genre. Freedom seems to do the same thing 808s did by take an artist (Akon) successfully in a new directio BiographyBorn: October 14, 1981 in St. Louis, MOGenre: Hip Hop/Rap Years Active: '00s, '10s Although he was born in St. Louis, MO, Aliaune Thiam — aka Akon — grew up in Senegal before he and his family (including his father, jazz percussionist Mor Thiam) returned to the United States and settled in New Jersey when he was seven. There he discovered hip-hop for the first time, as well as crime. He was eventually jailed but he used the time — three years, he claimed — to work on his musical ideas. Upon release, Akon began writing and recording tracks in a home studio....
