Fever to Tell – Yeah Yeah YeahsView More By Yeah Yeah Yeahs Our ReviewAfter several crude EPs that presented this skeletal NYC garage rock trio in their natural environs, the group opted for a major label and a noticeable leap in production values for their debut full length. At 37 minutes, Fever to Tell is high on economy: concise and powerful, with nary a wasted note, less garage than Wire-influenced post-punk art rock. The added fidelity opens up the sonic space, making silence a powerful ally in the war of noise. Singer Karen O is the obvious star, tweaking and twisting her tremulous shriek into aggressive and seductive poses at will, pausing for effect and destroying the conventions of the pretty, female lead singer. She controls the soundstage. “Rich” awaits her punctuation. “Maps” lopes in her sullen shadow. “Tick” bounces off her spastic interjections. Guitarist Nick Zinner carefully sculpts his shots to match – using his instrument as gentle watercolor, rather than as a bludgeoning instrument. Set this to the racing, staggering rhythms of their drummer Brian Chase and you’ve got one of the freshest approaches to what on the surface seems to be a minimalist’s proposition.. Customer ReviewsYeah Yeah Yeahs=YEAH YEAH YEAH! (5 stars)This album is so good. The songs are so good. I love every single song on this cd. I would definitely reccomend Man, Pin, and Maps. These are some of their best songs. But don't buy this cd from itunes, because its not the full cd. It doesn't have 1 great track: Modern Romance. Great CD-but not from itunes Peace out -Anjj It can change you... (5 stars) I ordered the album (the full one, not the 10 tracks offered here) off the internet because I absolutely LOVED the 3 songs I knew (maps, Y Control, and Date with the Night) I listened to the whole album and was a little disappointed. I love some of the songs, so I continued to listen to the CD. And then it just clicked. I had never really listened to the lyrics or understood what exactly was meant by the ones I had heard. Now I do and I love Excellent Album (4 stars) The Yeah Yeah Yeah's Fever to Tell has some great songs and some ok songs. You can rock to Rich and Pin, beat your head to the chorus of Y Control, and gasp at the beauty of Maps. Fever to Tell does have some filler with Black Tounge, Cold Light, and Modern Romance. Maps is definitly the best song of the album, and one of the most beautiful indie songs ever written. Karen O has a very distinctive and beautiful voice and Nick Zinner is an exc BiographyFormed: 2000 in New York, NYGenre: Alternative Years Active: '00s, '10s Discovered in the wake of the Strokes' popularity and the subsequent garage rock revival, New York's art punk trio the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are comprised of singer Karen O, guitarist Nicolas Zinner, and drummer Brian Chase. O met Chase at Ohio's Oberlin College and met Zinner through friends after she transferred to NYU. Zinner and O formed the band in 2000; originally, they were a folky duo called Unitard, but they went electric...
