Familiar to Millions – OasisView More By Oasis Our ReviewThe music Oasis makes is intended to be played at top volume in massive arenas, which makes the band a perfect candidate for a live album like Familiar To Millions. The album documents the band’s performance at Wembley Stadium on July 21, 2000, in front of 70,000 fans. Familiar to Millions attains Noel Gallagher’s original goal of rock’n’roll that has the sneering urgency of the Sex Pistols and the melodramatic significance of Queen. New songs like “F***in’ In the Bushes” were designed specifically for this setting, while older favorites like “Wonderwall,” a moody ballad on record, are transformed into fist-pumping anthems in the arena. Oasis are not necessarily better in the live environment, but there is no question that playing in front of thousands and thousands of people heightens the sense of grandiosity that is essential to this band’s being. Until you hear the strains of “Live Forever” or “Don’t Look Back In Anger” echoing from the rafters of Wembley as 70,000 fans sing along, you won’t fully comprehend what this band meant to its fans.. Customer ReviewsGood. (4 stars)It is such a shame to see such a good band go to waste in America. Oasis are wothout a doubt the greatest band in the world right now. This album barely scraped the U.S. Top 200. I admit, it is not their best work. Their best work comes from the studio, just like every other band ever. This is at least worth a listen. Listen to Wonderwall, Step Out, Supersonic, and Hey Hey, My My. The songs do sound a bit hollow, probably because they were r Great live album. (5 stars) Great live album... regardless of tuned vocals. Makes listening more enjoyable. Great band, great songs, great album. Great Live Album (5 stars) Amazing quality, not the best vocal performance, but I still wish I was there. BiographyFormed: 1993 in Manchester, EnglandGenre: Rock Years Active: '90s, '00s Oasis shot from obscurity to stardom in 1994, becoming one of Britain's most popular and critically acclaimed bands of the decade in the process. Along with Blur and Suede, they were responsible for returning British guitar pop to the top of the charts. Led by guitarist/songwriter Noel Gallagher, the Manchester quintet adopted the rough, thuggish image of the Stones and the Who, crossed it with "Beatlesque" melodies and hooks, injected distinctly British lyrical themes and song structures like the...
