Evanescence (Deluxe Version) – EvanescenceView More By Evanescence Our ReviewEvanescence lives and dies by its sense of grandeur, dreaming big dreams. Singer Amy Lee performs with the kind of oversized drama and power that puts her in league with such stagecraft warriors as Meat Loaf and Michael Bolton, even if her image is more in line with goths. Tracks such as “What You Want,” “Made of Stone,” and “The Change” create a hyperactive anthemic drive that makes old-school big rockers like Heart and Bon Jovi sound like garage bands. The guitars thunder like an orchestra, while the drums dive-bomb the black sky on the epic “My Heart Is Broken.” Only if Tori Amos had stuck with her hard-rock beginnings could there be a serious challenger to Lee’s overwhelming attack. The piano and strings of “Lost in Paradise” come closest to a gentle side, but this band is backed by serious fury. “Sick” is arena rock at its most heartwrenching. “Oceans” surfs between metal riffage and gargantuan keyboard fills. The deluxe version includes four bonus tracks that extend this near-opera to greater heights.. Customer ReviewsFirst Review!!! (5 stars)What are you reading this for??? Go buy this amazing comeback album already!!!!! :) Every song on the album is worth the $13 for the deluxe... Trust me. Every song has a different element of Evanescence that everyone loves, and every Evanescence fan will love this comeback album!!! No match to FALLEN…NOT even close... (2 stars) Over the years i have grown to like Evanescence but it seems that nothing can quite match the perfection of the initial first album FALLEN. This album feels incomplete and not really setting itself apart from any basic rock album …does it want to be symphonic rock or pop? is it crossing to metal? it is not clear because no actual genre seems to stand out. Honestly i expected more, all these songs sound very similar to each other and Evanescence is Back! (5 stars) They still know how to make Rock sound so awesome! Every song is unique and strong! Keep it up, because this album was so worth the wait. Trust me! BiographyFormed: 1995 in Little Rock, ARGenre: Rock Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s Evanescence filled a niche few knew existed upon their arrival in 2003: the need for operatic goth-pop, soul-baring introspection paired with churning metallic guitars. Singer/pianist Amy Lee cut such a figure fronting the group that it was easy to not think of Evanescence as a band, but rather a support group for her songs. After some lineup shifts, however, including the departure of founding...
