Eat a Peach (Deluxe Edition) – The Allman Brothers BandView More By The Allman Brothers Band Our ReviewThe Allman Brothers Band not only survived the death of slide guitarist Duane Allman in the midst of the Eat a Peach sessions, they subsequently emerged with an extraordinary double album that showcased their many stylistic sides. Ultimately, the band cobbled together a potent mix of nine tracks; three studio cuts with Duane on board, three scintillating tracks from 1971’s monumental Fillmore East shows, and three more studio performances completed after Duane’s tragic motorcycle accident. “Melissa” and “Blue Sky,” with Duane and Dickey Betts trading licks, added a distinct country feel to the set, but the centerpieces remain the live workouts – two ripping blues covers and the 33-minute “Mountain Jam,” which set a standard for improvisational rock that’s rarely been matched.. Customer ReviewsWow. Finally the alternate versions are released! (5 stars)Thank God. The original album "Live at The Fillmore East" was culled from five shows, yet the alternate versions of the songs have never been released, until now. This has been a long time coming. All the best songs from their live act have alternate versions released, most notably "Statesboro Blues", "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed", and "Whipping Post". But those are just my personal favorites, as all o Allman Bros. Own All Other Southern Rockers! (5 stars) I love the Allman Brothers Band. They are one of the most talented Southern Rock bands ever. They create tunes that would apeal to mostly everyone. I am 13 years old...and i love them. Melissa is a beautiful song, and Whipping Post is one of my favorites by them. Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts have such unique voices. They spread emotion throughout every song like it's a sandwich of joyful music (can't believe i just said that). This album is This CD rules (5 stars) I have every album they ever made and i have been listening to them since i was born and im 16 now. This album is probably one of the best they made so far. I give it 6 stars in a heart beat, but I can only go to 5 so ill take that. Anyone who likes that Allman Brothers should befinatly buy this album.
