Done With Mirrors – AerosmithView More By Aerosmith Our ReviewDone With Mirrors represents an unusual stopgap in Aerosmith’s career. It's the band’s first album for Geffen and it marks Joe Perry’s return to the group after a disastrous two-album absence. Still, it’s not quite the definitive comeback album that the group would eventually achieve with Permanent Vacation. Rather, Done With Mirrors is more a goodbye to the band’s ‘70s heyday. “Let the Music Do the Talking” and “Gypsy Boots” attempt to recapture the high-velocity thrills of Toys In the Attic. “Shame on You” and “She’s on Fire” hint at the big grooves and bigger hooks that would come to fruition on Pump and Permanent Vacation. The band was realizing that they weren’t their old selves, but they had yet to envision their future. Following Done With Mirrors (the title is a reference to the band’s drug dependency) all five members completed rehab programs and re-emerged with the focus and energy needed to make Permanent Vacation a killer comeback. Done With Mirrors's subtext provides a fascinating portrait of a band in transition.. Unfortunately, with this broader fame came BAD MUSICAL DECISIONS. They released "Permanent Vacation" with Dude Looks Like a Lady and Love in an Elevator. All of a sudden everyone wanted to see their videos. Then ca Return of Aerosmith (5 stars) Done With Mirrors is one of Aerosmith's most overlooked albums, in large part because it was their first release after a long hiatus of Joe Perry and Brad Whitford. The first track, "Let the Music Do the Talking," is actually a reworked song that Joe Perry released as a solo artist during his time away from Aerosmith. How you recieve this album is going to depend what kind of Aerosmith fan you are.
