Don't Believe the Truth – OasisView More By Oasis Our ReviewThe first album to feature contributions from all four principle members of Oasis, Don’t Believe the Truth marks the moment when the band stepped beyond the shadow of their past glories and emerged on their own terms as one of rock’n’roll’s most formidable units. A welcome addition to the band is Zak Starkey’s powerfully straightforward drumming. Bassist Andy Bell’s “Turn Up the Sun” is a vast peace-and-love anthem perfectly suited to the band’s personality, while guitarist Gem Archer’s “A Bell Will Ring” is a glowing piece of hypnotic, edgy psychedelia. While Don’t Believe the Truth finds each member developing his own style, this album indisputably belongs to the Gallagher brothers. Noel’s nuanced songwriting has never been better than on “Let There Be Love,” and “The Importance of Being Idle,” while “Mucky Fingers” is his forthright rock’n’roll at its finest. Even Liam’s songs —“The Meaning of Soul” and “Guess God Thinks I’m Abel”— display the mixture of sneering and sweet that epitomizes the younger Gallagher. It all comes together on “Lyla,” a brilliant stomp that embodies the renewed swagger of this venerable group.. Customer ReviewsSimply Amazing (5 stars)I had to be the first to chime in with a review- because this album changed the way I view this band. While their popularity with their first 2 albums was much deserved, they lacked a maturity and range that makes this album so brilliant. The album starts with Turn up the Sun, which has some great guitar work. Lyla is the most like their signature sound thus far, which is why is both surprised and didn't surprise me that it was released. It One of there best. (5 stars) Don't Believe the Truth is a great album form the best band on the planet. It is not there best so if your new to oasis don't buy this, buy Morning Glory or Be Here Now. Oh and please excuse my terrible spelling. Turn Up the sun- Great opener by andy bell. I love the riff at the begining. Good backup singing by noel. Showed how they still had that in your face oasis attitude after a sub-par album in Heathen Chemistry. 8/10 Mucky fingers- Great Record! (5 stars) This record is way better then there last record! The three best songs on this record have to be Lyla, Mucky Fingers and Let There Be Love. But a great record all around! BiographyFormed: 1993 in Manchester, EnglandGenre: Rock Years Active: '90s, '00s Oasis shot from obscurity to stardom in 1994, becoming one of Britain's most popular and critically acclaimed bands of the decade in the process. Along with Blur and Suede, they were responsible for returning British guitar pop to the top of the charts. Led by guitarist/songwriter Noel Gallagher, the Manchester quintet adopted the rough, thuggish image of the Stones and the Who, crossed it with "Beatlesque" melodies and hooks, injected distinctly British lyrical themes and song structures like the...
