Disintegration (Deluxe Edition – Remastered) – The CureView More By The Cure Our ReviewWith 1989’s Disintegration, Robert Smith and his then-current Cure line-up found the big statement they’d been looking for. Smith was quick to consider Disintegration a successor to the band’s artistic masterwork, Pornography. In many ways, he was right. Both albums have an uncompromising, epic scope to them, but where Pornography looked to strip the music to its emotional core, Disintegration turned each song into a lush and romantic last stand of torment, heartbreak and often love. “Pictures of You” and “Lovesong” were the obvious commercial standouts, but there’s no discounting the emotional depths of “The Same Deep Water As You.” This expanded edition is a massive extension, including demo and alternate versions of many of the album’s best tracks and live versions that further the excitement for hardcore fans. Some tracks have appeared elsewhere, but for anyone with a soft spot for Disintegration and its place in musical history, well, this is about as complete an edition as one could hope for. (The instrumental take of “Pictures Of You” alone allows fans to grab the hairbrush and perform their own version.). Customer ReviewsTHE Definitive Album Of The 80's - Deserves 50 Stars!!!!! (5 stars)While the rest of the music industry were busy churning out the usual 3-minute disposable dance pop/hip-hop/glam rock, Robert Smith reached into his tortured soul and found his epic masterpiece. Painstakingly applying layer after cohesive layer of lush keyboards, swirling guitars, whisper-to-a-scream vocals and still more keyboards, "Disintegration" redefined the term "Wall Of Sound". (5 stars) I don't even know where to begin, as I am sure few of us lowly music fans do. After being a fan of this rock and roll group for a long time, I came to the understanding long before it was declared on South Park: "Distintegration is the best album ever." I cannot even begin to describe the understatement contained within that line. This whole "Deluxe Edition" is long overdue. I consider this album very stiff competetion fo One Decade...into another (5 stars) Disintegation was the ablum that bridged two decades. The recording took many on a journey of the late '89 straight into the early 90's. This album was so powerful that it still stirs many emotions. Turn off the lights, light a candle, and listen. BiographyFormed: 1976 in Crawley, EnglandGenre: Alternative Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s Out of all the bands that emerged in the immediate aftermath of punk rock in the late '70s, few were as enduring and popular as the Cure. Led through numerous incarnations by guitarist/vocalist Robert Smith (born April 21, 1959), the band became notorious for its slow, gloomy dirges and Smith's ghoulish appearance, a public image that often hid the diversity of the Cure's music. At the outset, the Cure played jagged, edgy pop songs before slowly evolving into a more textured outfit. As one of the...
