Dear Agony – Breaking BenjaminView More By Breaking Benjamin Our ReviewChange isn’t for everyone. Dear Agony is trimmed with all the winning trappings of Breaking Benjamin's former works: wind-up verses expressing the dire agony of forever troubled romance leading up to detonating choruses of cathartic explosions. Melancholic melodies do head-to-head battles with heavy, grungy rock riffs — sometimes winning and sometimes losing. “Fade Away” opens darkly with proggy leads and moody bass lines. Frontman Benjamin Burnley furthers his lyrical foray of the perpetual breakup that has forged his musical career as he sings, “It’s over/ I didn’t want to see it come to this/ I wonder if I’ll ever see your face again.” The alt-metal laced “I Will Not Bow” is easily the catchiest number here (which may be why it was used in the 2009 Bruce Willis movie Surrogates). But the title-track shows the most musical growth with finesse and restraint in the playing as well as Burnley’s impressive self-harmonizing choruses.. Customer ReviewsDear Agony (Song-by-Song Review) (5 stars)This is my song-by-song review for Breaking Benjamin's new album, Dear Agony: 1. Fade Away - 8/10: Great opening track. But somewhat deceptive in setting the overall sound and feel of the rest of the album. The tracks that follow are astounding in their compositions. 2. I Will Not Bow - 9.5/10: Their single and one of my favorite songs by Breaking Benjamin, not just from this album. Nice, powerful vocals and lyrics. 3. Crawl Yawn (3 stars) There are a few songs on this CD that remind me of Daughtry, and to me that's not a good thing. He's not a rocker, not in the sense of the Saturate-type Breaking Benjamin. Saturate got me hooked, and even We Are Not Alone, with tracks such as So Cold, Sooner or Later, and Believe was a strong CD. After that, I could only find two or three worthy tracks on Phobia, but I hoped that they would come back stronger with Dear Agony. There is some h Breaking Benjamin Has Done It AGAIN!!! (5 stars) Dear Agony takes Breaking Benjamin to a new level. Its hard to say that this is the best album from them yet because every one of their albums has been epic, but Dear Agony is truly a masterpiece. One of the most appreciated things about this album and most of Breaking Benjamins others is that every song on the CD is worth getting. There are no 'filler' songs on the Album. Also with Dear Agony the band explores some differant realms, with so BiographyFormed: 2000 in Wilkes-Barre, PAGenre: Rock Years Active: '00s In late 2000, guitarist Aaron Fink and bassist Mark James Klepaski made a surprising and unexpected decision: they left Lifer, an alternative metal band that was signed to Universal and was gaining commercial acceptance. Fink and Klepaski departed Lifer (which was originally called Strangers with Candy) so that they could join forces with singer Ben Burnley and drummer Jeremy Hummel and form Breaking Benjamin. Why would Fink and Klepaski leave a band that had a contract with Universal to form a new...
