Dark Horse – NickelbackView More By Nickelback Our ReviewFrom the opening riff and the lyrics, "Gotta meet the hottie with the million dollar body/ They say it's over budget/ But you'd pay her just to touch it," you pretty much know what you're in for with Nickelback's sixth studio album. This unapologetically loud outing is a denim-clad performance built to blast while tailgating in stadium parking lots. And if the mix sounds even more boisterously radio-friendly than 2005's multi-platinum All The Right Reasons, that's because Nickelback hired Mutt Lange (most noted for his work with AC/DC, Def Leppard, and Bryan Adams) to co-produce Dark Horse. "Burn It To The Ground" is a similarly heavy, post-grunge rocker with pounding rhythms, sinister lyrics, and serpentine melodies. And of course the band returns to the kinds of ballads that made All The Right Reasons so successful. The emotional "Gotta Be Somebody" would do well on a soundtrack to any one of those melodramatic television shows about attractive high school kids, and the catchy "Never Gonna Be Alone" will inevitably be covered by fields of American Idol applicants.. Customer Reviewssimply incredible (5 stars)What do you get when you put the producer of such albums like AC/DC's "Back In Black" and Def Leppard's "Hysteria" and the thunderous rock n' roll melodies of Nickelback? Following the massive success of "All the Right Reasons", most bands would simply make a carbon-copy and cash in. However, that is exactly what didn't do. AWESOME!!! (5 stars) I love this album. :) COME BACK NICKELBACK~ Grow Up (2 stars) I agree, the album's the same as all the others. Immature lyrics about sex and nothing unique or better than before. However, this album in particular sound even more immature. It's like listening to an older, angrier Relient K. BiographyFormed: 1996 in Alberta, CanadaGenre: Rock Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s Few bands did more than Nickelback to establish the force of slick, commercially minded post-grunge in the 2000s. Led by vocalist Chad Kroeger, the band initially emerged in the late '90s as Canada's answer to Creed, prizing a blend of gruff vocals and distorted (yet radio-friendly) guitars. After a handful of singles failed to gain much traction in Canada, "How You Remind Me" caught hold in 2001, eventually topping the charts in several countries while gathering four Grammy nominations and four...
