Awesome As **** (Live) [Deluxe Version] – Green DayView More By Green Day Our ReviewGreen Day hasn’t been a “punk” band for a very long time. This live album, recorded throughout the world from Detroit to Brisbane, is an arena-rock celebration with a sound as wide as the Grand Canyon. It often sounds better than their studio albums, with an excitement and speed and density of sound that’s quite appealing. The extra adrenaline pumping through “21st Century Breakdown,” “Know Your Enemy” and “Geek Stink Breath” shows the band is incapable of phoning it in, even if the performances are more choreographed than their early days. The album, recorded on the 21st Century Breakdown tour, is heavy on newer material, but with a decent mix of old fan favorites, including “When I Come Around” and “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” This Deluxe Version includes the bonus tracks, “Letterbomb,” “Christie Road” and “Paper Lanterns / 2000 Light Years Away,” which are as consistently good as the official album.. At their core, Green Day were simply punk revivalists who recharged the energy of speedy, catchy three-chord punk-pop songs. Though their music wasn't particularly innovative, they brought the sound of late-'70s punk to a new, younger generation with Dookie, their 1994 major-label debut. Dookie sold over ten million copies, paving the way for a string of multi-platinum...
